How much will a removal cost?

 

If you wish, we will visit your home and provide you with a fixed quotation. However our price per hour is £60 and work on a four hour minimum, we find it is often more beneficial to our clients to accept these terms rather than a fixed removal quotation.

 

The reason is to be perfectly honest, if you do have a fixed removal quotation we will add on more than we estimate it to be. This is because, this would cover any eventuality i.e bad traffic. So in the long run you could end up paying more than is nessesary. Some removal companies favour this method. We don’t, we work on reputation, a referral means more to us than a removal from advertising.

 

It means our service is the best one a removal company can provide.

 

What do I get for my money?

 

The removal vehicle we use for full house removals is a heavy goods vehicle; this is for our clients benefit as it does cut down on trips. It generally fits in the contents of a three bed roomed house, it has fit the contents of a four bedroomed house, obviously some people can to have more possessions than others this is why this is this can only be a general statement.

 

There are three people on each removal team, two porters and a driver/supervisor. Your sofa’s, chairs and mattresses are protectively covered as a matter of course. We are fully insured for Goods in Transit and Public and Employers Liability.

 

We do charge £20 for our removals insurance. Most importantly, we realise what a stressful time this can be for you, we are at all times here to help you, from the first phone call or e-mail to the last box entering your new home.

 

What information do you need?

 

We need to know how many bedrooms your current home has, also if you have a garage or cellar, you would be amazed how much a family can store in either of these. What if any unusual articles of furniture do you have i.e. pool table, antiques etc. Is there any particularly large or heavy furniture or furniture that could be more difficult to handle i.e. sofa beds (sometimes furniture with a dual purpose needs to be strapped differently for easier removal) Are all your beds going to be dismantled, if not the men always carry a tool box but to cut down on time it is always quicker if it has already been done. The main thing we need to know is did all of your furniture gain access to your property via the existing doorways i.e. windows did not need to be removed.

 

Most importantly, we realise what a stressful time this can be for you, we are at all times here to help you, from the first phone call or e-mail to the last box entering your new home.

Do you provide a packing service?

 

We will provide a full or part packing service. We also provide the packing materials if you wish to keep your costs down and pack your contents yourselves.

 

What do you suggest to keep the cost down?

 

Firstly, pack your contents yourselves, if you have a garage or a spare room this is even simpler. Pack the items that you will not need for a while and place wherever you have that is suitable. Always write on the boxes where the box is to go in your new home i.e. bedroom one. If the contents is fragile mark as such and which way up it should be.

 

Draw a plan of your new home for the Supervisor this way he knows exactly where the bedrooms that are the boxes are marked for are.

 

Dismantle any furniture that needs to be taken down, keep the screws and Allen keys well marked so you know exactly which furniture they are needed for. A good idea is to put all the screws and the correct allen keys in a small bag and tape the bag to for example the leg of the bed which you have dismantled.

 

Do you provide storage?

 

We are a removal firm, we are experts in this trade, and we currently do not own our own storage facilities. However, we will store your belongings at any storage unit of your choice. We ourselves use Huddersfield Self Store. This is because you can store for any amount of time, and you do not need to make an appointment to pick something up, or perhaps you wish to check something that you have stored.
